About
Earthbound Trails began as a disagreement about what a good safari looks like.
Before Earthbound Trails existed, its three founders worked as independent guides across Central India — often on the same properties, often frustrated by the same thing. Groups of twenty, six vehicles converging on one sighting, and itineraries that measured success in parks visited rather than time spent watching one animal behave.
The company started in 2024 with a simple constraint: eight guests, two vehicles, no exceptions. It meant fewer departures could run at once, and it meant turning away group bookings that didn’t fit — decisions that cost revenue in the short term and, we believed, were the entire point.
What began as wildlife safaris across Central India has since grown to include photography expeditions built around light and behaviour rather than checklists, international departures to East Africa run to the same standard, and — more recently — corporate retreats and school programmes that bring the same naturalist-led approach to groups who aren’t typically offered it.
What hasn’t changed is the constraint we started with. A fixed share of every booking still funds the anti-poaching and habitat work described on our Conservation page, and every departure is still led by someone who lives in the landscape they’re guiding you through.
A world where wildlife travel funds the very landscapes it depends on — where every departure leaves a forest, a species, and a local community better off than it found them.
To run small, naturalist-led journeys — never more than eight guests, two vehicles — that put unhurried time with wildlife ahead of ground covered, and to direct a fixed share of every booking into the anti-poaching and habitat work described on our Conservation page.
